POTUS Impairs Freedom of the Press

The founding fathers intended freedom of the press as a safeguard to keep we the people free, and promote democracy in the Republic. A government controlled press spews propaganda and results in oppression not freedom. Obama, however seems to think that a free press impairs a democracy.

The only thing that seems to be impaired is Obama's lack of tech savvy. While it is unfortunate that Obama's lack of tech savvy does not leave him unable to operate TOTUS, since when do computer game systems put pressure on a democracy?

"And with iPods and iPads; and Xboxes and PlayStations -- none of which I know how to work -- (laughter) -- information becomes a distraction, a diversion, a form of entertainment, rather than a tool of empowerment, rather than the means of emancipation. So all of this is not only putting pressure on you; it's putting new pressure on our country and on our democracy," he said.

Freedom of the press does not put pressure on the country and on our democracy. This is either the biggest lie ever told, or demonstrates that Obama has no conceptual understanding of the purpose of freedom of the press.

The real issue here is actually that Obama does not want the citizen to access the information, namely the truth when and if it is reported. The truth sets us free, and Obama as a statist, wants to control the information you receive so he can tell you what to think. If you only know what he tells you, then you will not be able to dispute what he says. You will be easily controlled by the statist.

Obama, the elitist, is also insulting the common citizen, by implying that we are not smart enough to disseminate the information available, analyze it, and assess it for ourselves. The statist thinks the state needs to be in control of you for your own good.

It is bad enough that the media is 99.9% distorted as they swoon under the spell of Obama the Superzero, but Obama seems intent on silencing that small percentage of journalists and bloggers that make an attempt to report the truth. If Obama really was well intentioned, he wouldn't feel threatened by this small percentage and would not be making an attempt to silence them. That speaks much louder than the journalists themselves.
